I’m going to teach you today how to address the blocked sign-in for Microsoft 365 teams. Recently, I saw the error where one of my users tried to access a channel on Teams that a client submitted, but unfortunately the user received the sign-in attempt was blocked.

The user was able to access internal tenant channels and other information without any complications, but when they tried to access an external channel, the error (your sign-in was blocked and we found something unusual) was caused for whatever reason.

Since the error was new to me, I was not able to fix the problem and did not take suitable measures to get rid of the error. Because of the error code recorded on the Azure portal, I figured I would allow Multi Factor Authentication on the affected user account.

But, prior to allowing MFA on the user account, I decided to try something else. In order to check the user account status, I looked at risky users on the Azure portal because they handle sign-in practices, so I figured this could be relevant to the issue.

  • Go to “Azure Active Directory”
  • Select “Security”
  • Select “Risky users”

The user account was identified and an old unaddressed dangerous sign-in incident happened and the sign-in attempt was blocked and vanished until I dismissed them. Registration with the MFA isn’t completed.
